Its intentions were masked to the public by the legitimate packaging business it had as a front. Another mysterious figure, rich, powerful and clever enough to deduce that ASB was behind the recent crime wave founded WEC, a corporation whose sole task was to prevent the ASB from achieving their goal. Since then, an invisible war was fought between these two private corporations. Over the years, WEC had been slowly disrupting the ASB's operations and preventing their plans from being materialised. After destroying most of the ASB's assets, WEC sent their best Agent to the heavily guarded ASB Base in order to destroy both it and what was left of the ASB once and for all.

Private Infiltrator's gameplay mechanics revolve around the notion of pure stealth; being detected will result in an immediate death. Its levels are relatively linear with the beginning and the end typically being elevators that take the player to another level of the base, although backtracking is possible and sometimes required in order to complete secondary objectives. Detection occurs when the player enters the line of sight of an enemy. While visible by an enemy, the player's detection meter gradually rises from 0% to 100%, at which point the player is spotted by the enemy. The rate at which the detection meter rises depends on various variables such as player speed and visibility, and the enemy type that can see the player. (For instance, you are easier to spot when standing under a light).

If the player manages to remain undetected for a couple of seconds, the detection meter will start to quickly fall back to 0. Some enemies are also able to hear the player if they sprint close to them. The player can also use various Special Abilities that accompany the different Playable Characters, as well as equipment they can find or purchase through the in-game store with in-game points. The player earns points each time they complete a level. The amount of points they acquire is directly affected by their difficulty rating, and whether they completed the map's special objectives. Another way of acquiring points is via an Uncrating system in which the players can unbox crates with keys. Both keys and crates can be found throughout the levels.
